Academy meals guidance:

The cost of academy meals is £10.00 per week, payable in advance on a Monday morning.  (PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS COST WILL RISE TO £10.50 per week from 1st April 2017)  Payments for academy meals need to be placed in an envelope clearly marked with the child’s name and year group. The meals are cooked freshly on the premises each day and a choice is provided. We are able to cater for a number of special diets, so please ask if your child requires this.

Please try to pay promptly as dinner money which arrives late causes great inconvenience and wastes valuable clerical time as records need to be kept and all cash in the academy needs to be banked. Parents need to also understand that the academy needs to take steps to ensure that late dinner money is collected and any non-payment of money may result in reminder letters and further action if necessary.

Children may choose to bring a packed lunch. Children who have a packed lunch need to bring their own drink (not fizzy) in an unbreakable flask. We ask that packed lunches do not include chocolate or other similar products so that children enjoy a healthy and nutritious lunch with their friends having an academy meal.  As of January 2017 we are also encouraging pupils who bring a packed lunch to put any unused food or food wrappers back into their lunchboxes so that parents can see what has been eaten.

Parents must contact the academy if they wish to change their child’s lunch arrangements. Under normal circumstances children’s lunch arrangements should only be changed at the beginning of a new half term.  Special arrangements will be made each year for the academy Xmas lunch.

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 receive a free school meal in line with Government policy (Universal Free School Meals) regardless of whether they are entitled to free school meals or not.

Many children are eligible for free school meals, please enquire at The Education Shop in Oldham, telephone number: 0161 770 6688 or you can collect an application form from the academy. Parents are strongly advised to make enquiries with Oldham Council to see if they are entitled to free school meals for their child. The academy receives additional funding for every pupil who is entitled to free school meals and this means that your application can directly support the services we can provide.
